The director of the Museo Egizio in Turin since 2014, I am now also the head of the Turin section of the ‘Crossing Boundaries’ Project. I graduated in Classical Literature from Pavia University in 1999 and obtained a PhD in Egyptology at Pisa University in 2008. Before coming to Turin, I was a curator in the Egyptian section of the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden, Leiden and worked as an epigraphist on the Chicago Oriental Institute’s Epigraphic Survey of Luxor. Since 2011, I have been a co-director on the Italian-Dutch archaeological mission at Saqqara. My work aims to make the papyri and research on the papyri understandable and accessible to both the scholarly community and the public; herein lies my motivation for participating in the ‘Crossing Boundaries’ Project. I have overseen the refurbishment of the museum building and the renovation of its galleries, thereby transforming the Museo Egizio from an antiquities museum into an archaeological museum and research institute. My focus at the Museo Egizio is on the development of collaborations with museums, universities, and research institutes around the world.
